Obesity is a disease that affects 700 million people worldwide and approximately one-quarter of the Brazilian population. Bariatric and metabolic surgery represents the most effective treatment for patients with severe obesity. Due to its complex aspects related to understanding the disease, its clinical management, and procedures, bariatric and metabolic surgery has become an Area of Practice recognized by the AMB for digestive and general surgeons.
Qualification and certification in this field require specific training. In this course, taught by experienced surgeons, participants will learn contemporary concepts about obesity, indications, preparation, surgical techniques, and postoperative patient follow-up. Furthermore, they will learn the basic principles of surgical technique, essential for bariatric surgeons.
Taught by surgeons from the bariatric team at Hospital das Clínicas, this course offers a complete immersion in the most current concepts about obesity, from indications and preparation to surgical techniques and post-operative follow-up. It also introduces students to the structure and operation of a high-volume service, preparing them for excellent clinical practice.
