Specialization in Interdisciplinary Pain Assessment and Treatment

The specialization in Pain qualifies medical professionals to identify, diagnose and propose approaches to the main pain syndromes, as well as to discuss chronic and acute pain in Brazil and worldwide. The course brings together a highly qualified faculty, unique practical experience and a diploma from the largest hospital complex in Latin America.

Chronic pain without adequate treatment has become a problem of global relevance, including in Brazil. According to recent data from the Brazilian Society for Pain Studies (SBED), approximately 37% of the population suffers from chronic pain in the country. This totals almost 60 million people, which has increasingly required more qualified doctors and health professionals.

The postgraduate course in Pain is a pioneer in the field in Brazil. It offers over 600 hours of excellent content, taught by leading professionals from the Hospital das Clínicas da USP. Students also have the opportunity to learn in practice, with activities in the ward and over 40 outpatient clinics.
