The Pain Specialization program qualifies medical professionals to identify, diagnose, and propose management strategies for the main pain syndromes, as well as discuss chronic and acute pain in Brazil and worldwide. The program combines highly qualified faculty, unique practical experience, and a diploma from the largest hospital complex in Latin America.
Untreated chronic pain has become a significant problem worldwide, including in Brazil. According to recent data from the Brazilian Society for Pain Studies (SBED), approximately 37% of the population suffers from chronic pain in the country. This totals nearly 60 million people, which has increasingly required qualified physicians and healthcare professionals.
The postgraduate program in Pain is a pioneering program in its field in Brazil. It offers over 600 hours of excellent content, taught by leading professionals from the University of São Paulo's Hospital das Clínicas. Students also have the opportunity to learn hands-on, with activities in the ward and more than 40 outpatient clinics.
