Feeding therapy for food selectivity requires a careful, interdisciplinary approach, guided by four essential principles: respect, monitoring, positivity, and understanding. When introducing new foods into a child's diet, it's crucial to consider both the food's characteristics and the child's. Understanding the reasons behind each resistance is crucial to avoid mistakes that could worsen the problem or create new challenges.
Effective feeding therapy goes beyond nutritional techniques; it's also nurturing and intentionally uses play to teach new eating skills. In this module, you'll learn the importance of each step of the process and how to build a respectful and effective therapeutic plan that promotes positive changes in your child's eating behavior.
