The Professional Training Program for Foreign Physicians (PCPME) is aimed at medical professionals who graduate abroad without a revalidated degree in Brazil, with or without experience in their field of expertise, who are interested in carrying out a Specialization teaching program equivalent to the Brazilian Medical Residency Program at the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo, and at the end of the program to return to their countries of origin to apply the knowledge acquired , improving the local health system
.Divided into two modalities, Direct Access and Specialized Access, the program aims at specialization and professional improvement according to the medical specialty chosen by the student, in addition to contact specialists and professionals with high-quality techniques and standards from the HCFMUSP System.
Following Resolution of the Federal Council of Medicine CFM No. 2,216/2018, the graduate education program must have a duration and content identical to that provided for programs authorized by the National Medical Residency Commission (CNRM) for each specialty.
In addition, the program requires exclusive, full-time and restricted dedication to the HCFMUSP System and at locations previously designated by the program, with activities always carried out under the supervision of the Institution's Clinical Staff.
It is important to note that one of the MANDATORY documents for enrollment in the PCPME selection process is the Celpe-Bras certification of proficiency in the Portuguese language, higher intermediate level.
