Abdominal Wall Video Surgery and Robotics

The course aims to qualify doctors to perform minimally invasive and robotic surgeries to correct inguinal and midline abdominal wall hernias. It is a 100% in-person training course, held at the Laboratory of Teaching, Research and Innovation in Surgery at Hospital das Clínicas (LEPIC).

During the course, videos of previous procedures are presented, as well as videos of guest surgeons, addressing different types of hernias and their respective procedures. Although there is a significant emphasis on the theoretical part, the main focus is on the laboratory and practical training of the techniques presented, including the use of video surgery and robotics.

The technical concept of abdominal wall reconstruction is widely reinforced in both laboratory and practical activities throughout the course, which may include live surgeries and teleconference transmissions, depending on availability.
