The Oncology Nutrition course aims to train professionals to provide excellent care to patients undergoing cancer treatments. The specialization brings together a highly qualified faculty, live distance learning classes and the quality of the São Paulo State Cancer Institute (ICESP). Cancer is a global public health problem.
In Brazil, it is estimated that there will be 704,000 new cases of the disease each year in the three-year period 2023-2025. Advances in scientific studies have shown that foods can have a protective effect, as well as represent a risk factor for various types of the disease. In addition, nutritional status and supplementation can change the patient's outlook.
This scenario makes it increasingly necessary to have qualified nutritionists who are prepared to work in Oncology. By taking the course, students will have the opportunity to learn from nutritionists and professionals from various areas of ICESP. They will leave better prepared for specific nutritional monitoring in dietary therapy adaptations, symptom control, in addition to avoiding interruptions in treatment and worsening of the nutritional status of cancer patients.
