About Course

The Nutrition course trains physicians to assess the impact of nutrients on the body. Professionals learn to identify and treat malnutrition and obesity, offer individualized nutritional support, adjust oral, enteral, and parenteral therapeutic modalities, and manage complications related to different nutritional therapies.

Nutrology is a specialty not yet included in the undergraduate medical curriculum. Therefore, there is a shortage of professionals specialized in or knowledgeable in this area. Following ANVISA's (Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency) Ordinance 272/98, which created the EMTN (Multiprofessional Nutritional Therapy Team), physicians became part of the team providing nutritional support and assessment.

In the Nutrition course, you learn over the course of a month at the Central Institute of the Hospital das Clínicas of USP (University of São Paulo). The program comprises more than 200 hours, with classes taught by leading specialists and unique practical experience in the largest hospital complex in Latin America.
