Providing adequate care for newborns, especially those at high risk, is still a major challenge in Neonatal Intensive Care Units. This is due to the high risk of morbidity and mortality and because it is the most frequent cause of neonatal mortality. Comparing Brazilian neonatal indicators with those of developed countries further reinforces the need to train pediatricians in Neonatology.
The specialization in Neonatology is the result of a partnership between the renowned Institute for Children and Adolescents at the Hospital das Clínicas da USP (ICr HCFMUSP) and the Center for Support and Research in Pediatrics (CAEPP), the Specialization in Neonatology. After completing the training, the professional will be prepared to provide quality care to live births, from birth to 28 days of life, at the most diverse levels of complexity.
