The Neonatology specialization equips physicians with the core competencies and skills required for newborn care. The program features highly qualified faculty and the excellence of a center that is an international benchmark in highly complex care for newborns (NBs), children, and adolescents.
Providing adequate care for newborns, especially high-risk newborns, remains a major challenge in Neonatal Intensive Care Units. This is due to the high risk of morbidity and mortality and because it is the most common cause of neonatal mortality. Comparing Brazilian neonatal indicators with those of developed countries further reinforces the need to train pediatricians in Neonatology.
The Neonatology Specialization Program is a partnership between the renowned Children and Adolescent Institute of the University of São Paulo's Hospital das Clínicas (ICr HCFMUSP) and the Center for Support and Research in Pediatrics (CAEPP). Upon completing this training, professionals will be prepared to provide quality care to live births, from birth to 28 days of age, at a variety of levels of complexity.
