The Postgraduate Program in Geriatrics aims to promote learning, recognition, and differentiation between the physiological, normal, and pathological aging processes. The program qualifies medical professionals to provide excellent comprehensive care for the elderly.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of people over 60 will reach 2 billion by 2050. In Brazil, estimates are that, in 2030, the number of elderly people will surpass the number of children between zero and 14 years old for the first time. This challenging scenario increasingly demands public health measures and the training of qualified professionals.
The specialization is a response to this growing demand in Brazil. Developed by the Geriatrics Service of the Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo School of Medicine, the course features over 3,860 hours of differentiated content, taught by professionals who are leading experts in the field in Brazil, as well as supervised practice at centers of excellence in Geriatrics.
