Specialization in Geriatrics

The postgraduate program in Geriatrics seeks to promote learning, recognition and differentiation of the physiological, normal, and pathological aging process. The course qualifies medical professionals to develop comprehensive care for the elderly with excellence

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of people over the age of 60 will reach 2 billion by 2050. In Brazil, estimates are that, in 2030, the number of elderly people will surpass, for the first time, that of children between zero and 14 years old. This challenging scenario requires more and more public health measures and the training of qualified professionals

.

Specialization is a response to this growing demand in the country. Developed by the Geriatrics Service of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of USP, the course has more than 3860 hours of differentiated content, taught by professionals who are references in the area in the country, in addition to supervised practice in centers of

excellence in Geriatrics.
