Specialization in Enterostomal Therapy Nursing

The Specialization in Stoma Therapy Nursing at HCX FMUSP is an in-person, postgraduate (lato sensu) course aimed at nurses with a minimum of two years of professional experience who seek advanced qualification in the areas of stomas, wounds, and incontinence.

The program lasts 12 months and has a total workload of 608 hours — distributed between bi-weekly theoretical classes (on weekends), supervised practical internship, and the preparation of a final thesis. The training prepares professionals to excel in the planning, execution, and management of care in public and private healthcare.

The program provides a theoretical and practical immersion grounded in the principles of ethics, humanization, and evidence-based practice, enabling the development of clinical reasoning for choosing the best treatments and preventive or rehabilitative approaches in the care of adult and pediatric patients.

Practical activities are carried out in the institutes of the renowned Hospital das Clínicas complex of FMUSP and in partner entities, where students experience firsthand the routine and specialized care under the direct supervision of stoma therapy nurses.

In addition to providing in-depth knowledge of complex lesions, ostomies, and sphincter dysfunctions, the course equips graduates to organize and manage ostomy care services, develop care protocols, and conduct scientific research in the field.

The schedule will be arranged with the coordinator, and the student will choose whether to take classes in the morning or afternoon.
Optional hours: 7am to 1pm, or 7am to 5pm, or 7am to 7pm (to be arranged).
