Pediatric Point of Care Ultrasound

This course combines didactic sessions, hands-on practice and realistic simulation led by the team of pediatric POCUS experts at the Emergency Room of the Instituto da Criança at HCFMUSP.

In a total workload of 12 hours, students will train the acquisition of specific ultrasound windows in the focused echo, lung and FAST modalities in normal human models, in addition to practicing ultrasound-guided venous access in phantom models.

Practical sessions are complemented by presentation of clinical cases and realistic simulation activities that enhance knowledge about POCUS indications, image interpretation and integration of information into clinical decision-making.

During two intensive days, you will have the opportunity to:

Participate in Theoretical and Practical Classes: Learn how to acquire specific ultrasound windows in the focused echo, lung and FAST modalities in normal human models. In addition, participate in ultrasound-guided venous access practices in phantom models. Perform Hands-On Training on Real Patients: Experience the practical application of ultrasound in patients admitted to the Instituto da Criança, a tertiary care academic pediatric hospital dedicated to the care of children with chronic and highly complex diseases.
