Pediatric Point of Care Ultrasound

This course combines didactic sessions, hands-on practice, and realistic simulation led by the team of experts in pediatric POCUS from the Emergency Department of the Children's Institute at HCFMUSP.

In a total course load of 12 hours, students will train in acquiring specific ultrasound windows in focused echo, lung, and FAST modalities using normal human models, in addition to practicing ultrasound-guided venous access using phantom models.

The practical sessions are complemented by presentations of clinical cases and realistic simulation activities that enhance knowledge about POCUS indications, image interpretation, and the integration of information in clinical decision-making.

During two intensive days, you will have the opportunity to:

Participate in Theoretical and Practical Classes: Learn how to acquire specific ultrasound windows in focused echo, lung, and FAST modalities using normal human models. Additionally, participate in ultrasound-guided venous access practice using phantom models. Undergo Hands-On Training with Real Patients: Experience the practical application of ultrasound on inpatients at the Children's Institute, a tertiary care academic pediatric hospital dedicated to the care of children with chronic and highly complex diseases.
