USP Emergency Medicine Courses

The Emergency Medicine course was developed by the Clinical Emergencies Department of FMUSP with a focus on preparing emergency physicians for safer work in the Emergency Room. It is the most traditional training course in the country, with over 50,000 students having graduated.

There are many reasons why a patient may go to an emergency room. Medical emergencies are very diverse and can present in common or rare forms. Therefore, the emergency physician is faced with the challenge of making a quick diagnosis, needing to know which exam is really essential, in addition to anticipating the potential complications of each case and acting in a timely manner and as a team. Furthermore, the patient is not always in a position to express their normal health patterns, which can worsen the condition and restrict treatment. This is definitely a very challenging scenario, requiring the emergency physician to have varied, in-depth and up-to-date knowledge.

In the course, you will learn from some of the greatest names in Emergency Medicine in the country. There are more than 150 hours, distributed in 10 modules, podcasts, self-assessment questions, as well as case discussions, online forums and presentation of the institutional protocols of the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP. In addition, upon enrolling, the student will receive the updated edition of the book Medicina de Emergência – Abordagem Prática, by Editora Manole.
