The Nutrology course trains doctors to evaluate the impact of nutrients on the body. The professional learns to identify and treat malnutrition and obesity, offer individualized nutritional support, adjust oral, enteral and parenteral therapeutic modalities and manage complications related to differences in nutritional therapies.
Nutrology is a specialty not yet included in the undergraduate Medicine curriculum. Therefore, there is a lack of specialized professionals or those with knowledge in the area. From Anvisa ordinance 272/98, with the creation of EMTN (Multiprofessional Nutritional Therapy Team), the doctor forms part of the care team providing nutritional support and assessment.
In the Nutrology course, you learn over the course of a month, at the Central Institute of the Hospital das Clínicas at USP. There are more than 200 hours of program, with classes with great experts and differentiated practical experience, in the largest hospital complex in Latin America.
