The Nutrology course trains doctors to assess the impact of nutrients on the body. The professional learns to identify and treat malnutrition and obesity, offer individualized nutritional support, adjust oral, enteral and parenteral therapeutic modalities and manage complications related to the different nutritional therapies.
Nutriology is a specialty that is not yet included in the undergraduate medical curriculum. Therefore, there is a shortage of professionals who are specialized or have knowledge in the area. Since Ordinance 272/98, from Anvisa, with the creation of the EMTN (Multidisciplinary Nutritional Therapy Team), the doctor is part of the team providing nutritional support and assessment.
In the Nutrology course, you learn over the course of a month at the Central Institute of the Hospital das Clínicas da USP. There are more than 200 hours of program, with classes with leading specialists and differentiated practical experience, in the largest hospital complex in Latin America.
