The Training in Psychoanalysis of the IPq-HCFMUSP Psychotherapy Service is a three-year course that combines theoretical seminars and weekly clinical supervision. Students join a supervision group from the very beginning and treat patients from IPq-HCFMUSP throughout the entire training, with the guidance of their group supervisor.
The course is organized into three annual programs. The journey is not linear: each program addresses aspects of psychoanalysis and its insertion into the contemporary world that add up and intertwine. Within each program, the modules are organized around guiding questions, discussed from the theoretical-clinical diversity of the field and without adherence to a specific school. The questions are not intended to receive a definitive answer, but rather to organize a formative journey with meaning for each student.
The theoretical discussions invite the student to reflect on their own practice and to relate their treatments with what is being taught in class. Four axes traverse the three years: ethics, technique and management, social, political, and interdisciplinary dimension, and correlation between theory and clinical practice.
The training takes place within the psychiatric hospital, in constant dialogue with psychiatry, medicine, and other disciplines present in the daily life of IPq.
