The Specialization in Integrative Health aims to train healthcare professionals in different aspects of health professions and specialties, with an emphasis on expanding care within a multidisciplinary team model. It promotes the development of an interdisciplinary, multidimensional, and holistic vision of care, focused on the promotion and preservation of health and well-being, combining different sciences, medical systems, and areas of knowledge with an innovative, diverse, and qualified faculty. Based on the consolidated experience of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo, and its extensive scientific production in the field, USP opens its doors to professional qualification in this innovative field, which today includes the WHO Global Library of Traditional Medicine with 1.5 million indexed publications.
Following the guidelines of the WHO's Global Strategy for Traditional Medicine 2025-2034, adopted by 170 countries, Brazil will celebrate twenty years of the National Policy on Integrative Practices (PNPIC) in 2026. Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (PICS) are increasingly integrated into health services in 85% of Brazilian municipalities, in accordance with Brazilian public policies. They reflect a new perspective on health, no longer focused solely on the diagnosis and symptomatic treatment of diseases, but on promoting well-being and quality of life throughout the life cycle, from pregnancy and pediatrics to menopause, oncology patient care, and palliative care, in a complementary and evidence-based manner. Currently, the SUS (Brazilian Unified Health System) offers 29 PICS to the population, having served 9 million Brazilians in 2025, demonstrating the importance of qualified professionals to meet this demand.
The Integrative Health course, lasting 450 hours, combines relevant knowledge with live classes taught by leading experts. It also offers students the opportunity to participate in practical immersions at the largest hospital complex in Latin America, experiencing the Institutional Project "Being Integral: Health as a Source of Life," developed by HCX FMUSP.
