The Specialization in Comprehensive Care for Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs was developed to empower healthcare professionals to act safely, with a scientific basis and qualified decision-making skills, in the complex scenario of psychoactive substance use. Created by the Interdisciplinary Group for Alcohol and Drug Studies of the Department of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine of USP (GREA), the training combines theory guided by some of the country's leading experts with unparalleled practical experience within the Perdizes Institute of HC-FMUSP.

This is the ideal course for those who wish to prepare for the challenges of public health and become a reference in the field. It carries in its DNA the tradition of over 30 years of GREA — recognized as a Center of Excellence by SENAD — and the mission of the HC-FMUSP complex, concerned with excellence in care and the training of the best specialists in Brazil.

Our postgraduate program offers up-to-date, evidence-based training in the management, prevention, and early identification of harm associated with substance use, considering the alarming global and national epidemiological rates. Throughout the course, students deepen their knowledge of different therapeutic models and approaches, assessment of social determinants, development of unique therapeutic projects, and the use of soft, semi-hard, and hard technologies in highly complex situations.

With a practical focus and multidisciplinary approach, this specialization prepares you as a professional to work with greater autonomy, empathy, and efficiency, developing clinical skills, critical thinking, and networking abilities.
