The course involves theoretical content and practical experience of:

• Immunophenotyping by flow cytometry: methodological principles
• Lymphoid and Myeloid Ontogenesis
• Cellular Composition of Normal Bone Marrow
• Immunological classification of acute leukemias
• Immunological Classification of Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas (NHL)
• Chronic B lymphoproliferative diseases that usually present with a leukemic phase: lymphocytic lymphoma, lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, mantle zone lymphoma, large cell NHL, and follicular lymphoma
• Chronic leukemias: chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia/prolymphocytic leukemia, prolymphocytic leukemia (PLL) and hairy cell leukemia (HCL).
• The most common chronic T-cell lymphoproliferative diseases in our service: mycosis fungoides/Sezary syndrome and adult T-cell lymphoma/leukemia.
• Practical classes covering immunophenotyping sample processing, from screening to completion of tests. Equipment handling, calibration, controls, and daily maintenance.
• Good Practices in Clinical Laboratory, Quality Assurance, Internal controls, External controls (proficiency tests CAP, NIH, Controllab), Internal and external audits CAP, PALC, NIH, JCI, ONA, FCAV (NBR ISO 9001:15 / NBR ISO 14001:15 / ISO 45001:18).
