Pharmaceutical Care in Pediatrics, Adolescent Medicine, and Geriatrics
In the Pharmaceutical Care course, the focus will be on the analysis and management of pharmacotherapeutic problems affecting specific populations, such as children, adolescents, and the elderly. Crucial aspects of drug treatment in these age groups will be addressed, considering the particularities and distinct needs of each. In pediatrics, we will discuss the adaptation of medications and therapeutic regimens to the child's age and development, while in adolescent medicine, we will explore the specificities of pharmacotherapeutic care in adolescence, a phase marked by physiological and behavioral transformations.
Furthermore, the course will delve into the role of the pharmaceutical professional in geriatric contexts, where the complexities of aging, such as polypharmacy and comorbidities, demand heightened attention in the selection and monitoring of medications. The pharmacist's role will be discussed in terms of promoting the safe and effective use of medications, as well as preventing adverse interactions and optimizing adherence to treatment. By the end, participants will be able to provide specialized pharmaceutical care and intervene assertively in treatments for different stages of life.
