Specialization in Interdisciplinary Pain Assessment and Treatment

The Pain Specialization prepares the physician to recognize, evaluate, and diagnose the main pain syndromes and develop management strategies for different acute and chronic pain conditions. The course provides a comprehensive training, combining scientific knowledge, clinical experience, and practical experience in different care scenarios.

With a highly qualified faculty, composed of professionals with extensive experience in the field, the course offers a differentiated learning experience, with practical activities and contact with different approaches to the care of the pain patient. Upon completion, the student receives a diploma from the Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da USP, an institution that is part of the largest hospital complex in Latin America.

Chronic pain is a major public health problem in Brazil and worldwide. Data from the Brazilian Society for the Study of Pain (SBED) indicate that approximately 37% of the Brazilian population lives with chronic pain, which represents almost 60 million people. This scenario reinforces the importance of specialized training for physicians and health professionals for a qualified, individualized, and multidisciplinary approach to pain.

Pioneering in the field of Pain training in Brazil, the specialization offers 580 hours of training, combining theoretical content and practical activities. The clinical experience includes activities in wards and in 30 outpatient clinics and care areas, allowing the student to follow different painful conditions, diagnostic methods, and therapeutic strategies.
