The Specialization in Physiotherapy in Gerontology seeks to qualify physiotherapists to perform with excellence in the care of the elderly. Developed by specialists from the Physiotherapy Division of the Central Institute of HCFMUSP, the course combines theory to prevent and minimize the effects of the aging process on individuals, in addition to addressing the deficiencies and disabilities already established in the

geriatric population.

According to IBGE estimates, in 2030, the number of elderly people in Brazil will surpass, for the first time, that of children and adolescents aged 0 to 14 years. The data pose an important challenge in the care of this population and health professionals need to be increasingly prepared for this reality
