The Hospital das Clínicas has been experiencing in its care practice the growing number of patients with neoplasias and the technological advances involved in the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. The nutritionist, with his/her duties and responsibilities in the care provided to the patient and as a member of the multidisciplinary teams, collaborates with the maintenance of organic functions in increasingly complex and specific procedures for oncological treatment.
However, continuing studies within the scope of postgraduate studies for nutritionists is a necessity, given the possibility of specific nutritional monitoring for dietary therapy adaptations, early initiation of nutritional therapy, symptom control, in addition to avoiding interruptions in treatment and worsening of the patient's nutritional status, which contributes to a better quality of life.
