Specialization Nutrition in Oncology – EAD

The Live Oncology Nutrition Specialization aims to train nutritionists to treat patients who may have debilitating nutritional status due to the disease itself and its treatment. At the time of diagnosis, many patients are already malnourished, which can impact their quality of life and increase morbidity and mortality.

The Hospital das Clínicas has experienced a growing number of patients with cancer in its care practice, as well as technological advances in the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. Nutritionists, through their duties and responsibilities in patient care and as members of multidisciplinary teams, contribute to the maintenance of organic functions in increasingly complex and specific procedures for cancer treatment.

However, continuing studies within the postgraduate scope for nutritionists is a necessity, given the possibility of specific nutritional monitoring for dietary therapy adaptations, early initiation of nutritional therapy, symptom control, in addition to avoiding interruptions in treatment and worsening of the patient's nutritional status, which contributes to a better quality of life.
