The HCFMUSP complex has experienced in its healthcare practice the growing number of patients with neoplasms and the technological advances involved in the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases, which make it necessary for the constant development of the teams involved in the treatment of these patients.

Radiotherapy plays a fundamental role in the fight against cancer, which makes the dosimetrist's activity a critical point for the quality of care provided to cancer patients.

In this context, the biomedic/radiology technologist who specializes as a dosimetrist stands out, given the urgent need for their attributions and responsibilities in the face of supporting medical and medical physics teams to allow effective and safe radiotherapy treatment.

The Specialization course in Dosimetrist for radiotherapy is part of the institutional proposal to train biomedics and radiology technologists to treat patients undergoing radiotherapy, as well as to deal with all the recent technology that characterizes radiotherapy equipment and procedures.

The continuity of postgraduate studies for biomedics and radiology technologists is a necessity, given the constant technological evolution of equipment, service protocols and procedures, evidencing that this course demonstrates its relevance and avant-garde position since there is currently no course aimed at this audience and with such characteristics in the market.

The specialization in dosimetrist for radiotherapy carried out by the São Paulo State Cancer Institute — ICESP/HCFMUSP, has as its great differential its specialized teaching staff with extensive academic experience and professional experience, in addition to a modern pedagogical project that favors the student's leadership through practical classes and an internship workload of 160 hours in the various activities carried out by the dosimetrist.
