Pharmaceutical Care in Pediatrics, Hebiatrics and Geriatrics

In the Pharmaceutical Care course, the focus will be on the analysis and management of pharmacotherapeutic problems that affect specific populations, such as children, adolescents and the elderly. Crucial aspects of drug treatment in these age groups will be addressed, considering the particularities and distinct needs of each of them. In pediatrics, we will discuss the adaptation of medications and therapeutic regimens to the age and development of the child, while in hebiatrics, the specificities of pharmacotherapeutic care in adolescence will be explored, a phase marked by physiological and behavioral transformations.

In addition, the course will deepen the role of pharmacists in geriatric settings, where the complexities of aging, such as polypharmacy and comorbidities, require extra attention when choosing and monitoring medications. The role of pharmacists will be discussed in terms of promoting the safe and effective use of medications, as well as preventing adverse interactions and optimizing adherence to treatment. Upon completion, participants will be able to provide specialized pharmaceutical care and intervene assertively in treatments at different stages of life.
