USP Ophthalmology Assistant

The USP Ophthalmology Assistant Program was developed to train highly qualified professionals, prepared to work alongside ophthalmologists in clinics, offices, and hospitals. Upon completion, students will be able to safely and efficiently perform technical tasks, patient guidance, and administrative tasks, contributing to the optimization of time and quality of medical care.

With a 224-hour workload over 16 weeks, the course combines online theoretical classes (synchronous and asynchronous, 4 hours per week) with weekly 10-hour in-person meetings focused on intensive supervised practice. This structure offers flexibility without sacrificing essential practical training.

During training, students will be exposed to updated content on the anatomy and physiology of the visual system, ophthalmological examinations, equipment use, functional vision tests, contact lenses and glasses, as well as complementary examinations, such as tomography and laser, and surgical center procedures.

This course is ideal for those seeking a quick and solid entry into the job market, with recognized certification and direct learning from specialists at the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP, one of the largest centers of excellence in healthcare in Latin America.

Differentials

This course, developed by USP faculty, focuses on clinical practice and technical training at the University of São Paulo's Medical School's Hospital das Clínicas, a leading center in the field. Students will learn to operate equipment, perform vision tests, and provide direct support to ophthalmologists in various settings. The hybrid format facilitates access while maintaining a high level of in-person practical experience.
